During the Summer, students take gymnastics classes in the morning and in the afternoon they do a variety of activities and/or go to the park for outside activities. The following is a brief list of activities the children may participate in.

Bus Downtown

A fun bi-weekly field trip that allows children to participate in the Municipalities "Music in the Park" program. The children leave AGA at 9:30am and take the city bus downtown and spend the majority of the day exploring and enjoying the sites.

We offer many other activities that children may participate in during the Summer and Winter.

Bike Camp

General Information

Bike camp is a great way for your child to get in shape and have fun. Campers take a full or half day trip and explore the local trails and parks. Trips are taken to city parks, schools, local bike shops and recreational areas. Exact excursion destinations will be made known in advance. All day bike trips will occur once a week, generally on Friday.

Gear

All Bike Campers must have their own bicycle, helmet, chain, lock and tire repair kit. Bikers must also bring a backpack, 2 water bottles, lunch, snacks and a complete set of outdoor clothes including pants and/or sweats and a light jacket. Gloves are highly recommended, shin guards are optional. In case a child has forgotten his/her bike, AGA occasionally has a spare bike that can be borrowed, however, we believe it is best that the child brings his/her own bike for familiarity and safety reasons.

Safety

To go on bike rides, each bike must pass a safety check and each rider must pass a Rules of the Road Exam and a Riding Safety Obstacle Course. Due to the nature of the program, no training wheels are allowed. To pass the safety check, a bicycle must be in good working order with reflectors, tires, handlebars, chain, brakes and gears properly maintained. All bikes must be approved by the Bike Camp Director.

Field Trips and Walks to the Park

Field trips and neighborhood walks are periodically held. During the Summer, the students may walk to Pop Carr Park or Willow Crest Elementary School playground to play supervised games and on the playground equipment. AGA has occasional planned field trips (parents notified in advance), and will provide transportation from AGA to the field trip destination and back to AGA. The transportation system may be via the club van (insured), bus or a public transit system. There may be a charge for each child plus the cost of the event. Permission to participate may be granted by signing the registration form.

Television and Video Viewing

AGA does not use television or video game viewing as a regular part of its curriculum. A video is sometimes shown on "Fun Friday". All movies or films are rated "G". Educational films for learning skills will be used occasionally.
